Nora Helmer is a vibrant young housewife in Victorian New York City in 1875, who nonetheless suffers from a crippling dependency on her husband, Torvald. He has always done the thinking for the both of them. In order to save Torvald from a life-threatening illness, and to spare his masculine pride, Nora arranges a loan without his knowledge. This was something a woman never did without approval from a man in the 1800’s. The inevitable revelation of the action results in an unexpected response from Torvald and deep ramifications for the family.
